I just happened on the article concerning your mother...here's a short story about how I met her. In 1964 I was in a band called The Freewheelers. We were under contract to Epic Records and just had a release on the label. Since we were working in south Florida our booking agent, who had heard of the JFK School for Retarded Children benefit that your mother was directing at the Poinciana Playhouse, offered us pro bono for the event. It turned out to be a hugh talent show with the likes of Jimmy Durante, Jane Mansfield, Eddie Fisher, Lester Lanin's Society Orchestra, et.al. And then there was us. Ultimately we were crushed by the British music invasion. After the show there was a formal dinner dance w/Lanin's band. As we were leaving, dressed in our college sweatshirts and thongs(on your feet style)
your mom cornered us and insisted we join them for food and drink
and meet a few girls. My date turned out to be Jim Kimberly's wife...can't remember name, perhaps Pulitzer. I do remember she was 21 and gorgeous. Others included Princess Mary Oblinsky. We did a set of sing along music with Lanin that must have lasted half an hour. A very good time was had by all, thanks to your mom. Later, she got bookings for us at the B&T, The Breakers and Boca Raton Hotel. We stayed at The Holiday Inn with most of the performers. Jayne and Eddie were in the pool until dawn.
We had a great day...all thanks to your mom.

I still have the program book.

Best regards, Gary Cogley
